How to Crack CDAC’s C-CAT

Entrance examinations are not university examinations wherein you expect the questions that have been solved by you previously. Competitive examinations will have few questions which would surprise you, hence a systematic approach is needed to crack CDAC’s C-CAT exam and secure high rank.

Firstly : It is Very  important to understand your strengths and prepare accordingly.  You should focus on the areas in which you are comfortable. It is strictly advised to avoid solving problems which you are not confident and avoid wasting your valuable time during exam. Always choose the questions in which you are confident to solve it easily and time saved can be utilised to solve difficult questions at a later stage.

Secondly :  Answers / Options  are the biggest guide to solutions. One should carefully look at the question & options before attempting to solve the problem. Answers have hidden tips which will help you solve the problem without calculations.

Thirdly : Examinees should gather information on the pattern of the question paper, all should once scroll the past years’ questions papers. This would help in accessing the area of proficiency in each of the sections. This would also help in setting priorities for attempting the exam.

Fourth Tip: You should keep a tab on time limit as it is very crucial; it is the same for all the aspirants. Time management helps you solve 50% of the issues. You should always have a buffer of 5 -10 minutes to revisit your solutions or any mark for review problem. 

Fifth Tip: Those who are appearing in C-CAT should form study groups and prepare separate topics simultaneously. Group study enhances the knowledge and save valuable energy. One stands to understand difficult & multiple topics with ease. 

Sixth Tip: You should concentrate on practicing calculations every day. C-CAT examination does not include long calculations. One has to act smartly and become a master of Maths by using shortcuts and tricks taught to you. You need to simplify the problem before solving.

Seventh Tip: Self-evaluation can do the magic and one can take this exercise every week. Go through mock tests; follow the allotted time for solving. Also, avoid making mistakes in any of the mock tests while doing practice at home otherwise mock tests will lose its sole purpose.

Eighth Tip:  Every student should relax 2 hours before the exam, no need to worry about its difficulty level and take unnecessary stress.  Also do not leave any chance to enhance your vocabulary, go through the Wren Martin, newspapers, read editorials, read magazines and fiction books for increasing the vocabulary and score high.

Second last: C-CAT exams have two sections for most of the courses, Section A for Aptitude and Section B for technical. Finally: As per the marking scheme, C-CAT examination has negative marking to restrain students from attempting purely based on their assumptions.  Check on the correct answer if you are sure otherwise one may fall short on expected high scores, if lot of guess work comes into play.
